Phones

Here’s a selection of handsets currently available from Living Digital.

All of these handsets are available for:

Outright purchase (allowing you to put any compatible existing SIM card – including prepaid – into the phone to use. Also means the phone will work on any compatible network worldwide)
Connection to Optus on a 24 month agreement
(greater discount on handset purchase price)
Connection to Optus on a 12 month agreement
Connection to Optus on a 'month by month' agreement

HOW TO DECIDE?

Unless you're already set on a 'favourite', we suggest you take a look through the different manufacturers and choose two or three handsets that appeal to you. Then check for features you may need such as voice command, camera, email, BluetoothT compatibility etc - to make sure you are getting what you need.

Then decide on the type of purchase based on your situation – 24 months is the most popular option if you want the handset subsidized, especially if you know you will be in Australia for that time period. Twelve months gives a part subsidy on the phone, and the 'month by month' option gives you flexibility where the retail price of the handset is paid by you (see installment options below).

Should you already be in a contract, or on a prepaid service, or just wanting a handset with no strings attached (perhaps going overseas or as a gift) then an outright purchase would suit you.

PRICING

Due to the competitive nature of our industry, handset prices can be changed by Optus with as little as 24 hours notice. Please use our website as a guide. While we endeavour to update the site as soon as changes are announced, we’d ask that you email or call to check pricing and stock availability.

INSTALLMENT OPTIONS

Should you decide to take an Optus Digital number (or renew your existing number) with your chosen handset you can opt to pay the up-front cost of the handset (outright or subsidized price) over the term of your agreement. There are no interest charges applicable.

Should you disconnect before the end of the term of your agreement or before the handset cost is paid off, you simply pay the remaining installments on your final account.

This popular option allows you to take the handset you want without the up-front cost – you pay nothing in store.

SIM Backup is an exciting new service that automatically backs up your phone contacts to Optus Zoo + it’s FREE + this service can be quickly activated at ANY of our seven Living Digital stores!

So, if you ever lose your phone and need a replacement SIM, you can relax in the knowledge that all your contacts are securely stored. SIM Backup allows for storage of up to 500 phone contacts and is available on all handsets with a compatible SIM card.

HOW IT WORKS
SIM Backup provides you with the ability to backup your contacts name and number saved on your SIM card. If you lose your SIM card, Living Digital/ Optus will have a backup copy ready to download to your new Optus SIM card. The service will check for changes to your SIM contacts every 4 hours, any changes will then be backed-up. Most handsets support the SIM Backup service.

SIM Back-up SIM Card
All brand new Optus customers will be provided with a SIM that contains the SIM Backup service. If you are an existing Optus customer it is more than likely you will need to replace your SIM. This will be provided free of charge provided that you hand over your existing Optus SIM card upon collection of the new. Free SIM card replacement does not apply for lost or stolen SIM cards, however these can purchased in any of our stores [standard $38.50 charge applies]. One way of knowing whether you'll require a new SIM is by simply looking in your phone menu. If you have an 'Optus' icon which clicks through to a menu item called SIM backup then you do not require a new SIM - this applies for most Nokia handsets. However, for Motorola, Sony Ericsson or others the Optus icon maybe in a sub menu. Call one of our stores if you require help.

Overseas Travellers
The service is F R E E for all Optus customers within Australia. If you make changes to your SIM contacts while roaming overseas; SMS charges apply depending on the overseas carriers charges. If you don’t want to incur these charges while roaming overseas you will need to turn off the auto backup feature, which you can do direct from your handset or Zoo. Simply go into the phone menu, scroll down to Optus, Select SIM Backup and then select AutoBkUp Off.
